HC Deb 10 November 1937 vol 328 cc1786-7W
Mr. L. Smith

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can give an assurance that the necessary legislation to deal with the question of electrical interference with broadcast reception in this country will be introduced during the current Session of Parliament?

Mr. Storey

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has yet come to a decision on the question of introducing a Bill to secure the powers recommended by the Committee of the Institution of Electrical Engineers to compel owners of electrical plant which causes interference with broadcast reception to instal suppression apparatus?

Sir W. Womersley

The inquiries regarding the proposals to be embodied in a Wireless Telegraphy Bill to deal with the question of electrical interference with broadcast reception in this country are being actively pursued but are not yet completed. I regret that I cannot at present give an assurance that it will be possible to introduce such a Bill during the current Session of Parliament.
