HC Deb 04 November 1937 vol 328 c1128W
Mr. S. O. Davies

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will state the total amounts actually paid from, and the total commitments of, the Special Areas Fund, distinguishing between the main groups of Special Areas in Great Britain?

Mr. E. Brown

The total commitments and expenditure incurred by the Commissioner for the Special Areas (England and Wales) to 30th September, 1937. were approximately £12,900,000 and £4,250,000 respectively. It is not possible to give separate figures for parts of the Special Areas. Information is, however, given in the Commissioner's reports regarding the places in which schemes have been undertaken.
