HC Deb 03 November 1937 vol 328 cc948-9W
Mr. Porritt

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been drawn to the dispute between the employés of the surveyors' department and the Heywood Borough Council; and whether he can take steps to bring about a settlement?

Mr. E. Brown

The services of my Department have been at the disposal of both parties throughout this dispute and a joint Conference was convened with a view to effecting a settlement. The parties, however, were unable to reach agreement. If they so desire, I will endeavour to bring about a resumption of joint negotiations.
