Straussasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that a decree has recently been signed by General Franco annulling all transactions in mining property, bonds, machinery and equipment carried out since 18th July, 1936; and whether he intends to do anything in the matter in view of the adverse effect of this retrospective decree on British interests?
Mr. StanleyYes, Sir, I am aware of the decree in question, but it is not clear to what extent, if any, British interests are affected. The last part of the question, therefore, does not at present arise, but I am making further inquiries.
