HC Deb 02 November 1937 vol 328 cc746-7W
Mr. Smedley Crooke

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that the temporary civil servants employed in the Ministry's hospitals are at present not entitled to any superannuation; and what steps, if any, he proposes to take to remedy this grievance?

Mr. Ramsbotham

Staffs employed on a temporary footing in the Ministry's hospitals are, as in other Departments of the State, not entitled to pension under the Superannuation Acts, but, subject to the necessary conditions being satisfied, are eligible for consideration for gratuities on retirement. The circumstances would not, in my opinion, justify special action in favour of the staff referred to.
