HC Deb 27 May 1937 vol 324 cc452-3W
Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport, (1) what steps the Government propose to take to establish Parliamentary control over the general policy of the London Passenger Transport Board;

(2) whether the Government intend to take powers to convert any of the stock of the London Passenger Transport Board to a lower rate of interest, so as to escape the difficulties caused by over-compensation to the shareholders of the companies taken over by the Board and to enable greater benefits to be given by the Board to its employés and passengers?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The London Passenger Transport Board is a public authority and Parliament has defined the control and the financial structure to which it is subject.
