HC Deb 25 March 1937 vol 321 cc3089-90W
Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Minister of Transport what actuarial examinations of the superannuation fund have been made under Section 65 of the Schedule annexed to the London Midland and Scottish Railway (Superannuation Fund) Act, 1924; what was the amount of the deficit shown at each of the said statutory actuarial examinations; if the company has, in respect of such deficits, made to the fund the payments required by Section 7 of the said Act to secure the solvency of the fund; and if he has any statement to make relative to the present position of the fund?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I have no powers of inspection or otherwise in relation to this matter. The solvency of the fund is guaranteed by the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company, and I understand that the practice of the company is to meet their liability currently upon actuarial advice as to its extent.
