HC Deb 25 March 1937 vol 321 c3093W
Mr. N. Maclean

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he is aware that the Glasgow Corporation Health Committee, which is responsible for the administration of hospitals and institutions with over 13,000 patients, invited tenders for 100,000 tons of coal for this year's supply, and did not receive a single offer; and what action he proposes to take to ensure that the Glasgow Health Committee and similar committees in other parts of the country will be assured of the necessary fuel and other supplies to maintain the hospital and institution services in a state of efficiency?

Captain Crookshank

I understand that the invitation to tender was in respect of supplies from June next. I am informed that the tenders are under consideration by the Scottish coalowners concerned, and that offers for the full quantity will be made in good time.
