HC Deb 18 March 1937 vol 321 cc2285-6W
Sir N. Grattan-Doyle

asked the Secretary of State for War what land has been acquired by his Department in the past 12 months under the provisions of Sections 19 and 23 of the Defence Act, 1842; and whether, in the case of agricultural land, the Ministry of Agriculture has been consulted before his Department has exercised its powers of compulsory acquisition?

Sir V. Warrender

One hundred and sixty-five acres of land have been compulsorily acquired during the last 12 months, and "notices to treat" have been served in respect of a further 420 acres. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
