HC Deb 17 March 1937 vol 321 cc2081-2W
Sir R. Tasker

asked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the desirability of taking steps to grant permission for the shopkeepers in Southampton Row, W.C.1, to suspend the obligation to close on the weekly half-holidays from May to September, 1937, on the ground that the thoroughfare will be frequented as a holiday resort during this year?

Sir J. Simon

The point raised by the hon. Member is one for the consideration of the London County Council. I have no powers in the matter.
