HC Deb 17 March 1937 vol 321 c2098W
Mr. Liddall

asked the hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether he is aware that there is a good demand for and a shortage of supplies of English walnut timber, Juglans regia, and that this timber can be grown in the South of England; and will he therefore arrange for groves of the walnut trees to be planted on suitable Crown and other lands over which he has jurisdiction?

Sir G. Courthope

The Forestry Commissioners are aware of the position with regard to walnut timber and will keep in mind the hon. Member's suggestion of planting groves on suitable land under their charge.
