§ Sir V. WarrenderCanned food is not normally purchased for issue to troops on home service. Certain issues of preserved meat, held in reserve, are however made periodically in order to turn over stocks, the quantity issued during the current year being 256,000 lbs. This preserved meat is not canned in British canneries. In addition approximately 60,000 lbs. of tinned condensed milk are purchased annually for issue to Army hospitals and schools at home: during the past 12 months all this milk was British canned.
