HC Deb 19 July 1937 vol 326 c1789W
Mr. Holmes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress is being made with the examination of the report and draft Bill submitted by the Codification Committee on the Income Tax in April, 1936; and what prospect there is of giving legislative effect at an early date to such of the proposals as commend themselves to His Majesty's Government?

Sir J. Simon

Considerable progress has been made with the examination of the proposals of the Income Tax Codification Committee, but I am not yet able to indicate when it may be possible to introduce legislation.
