§ Mr. Macleanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can state the number of houses in working-class areas in Glasgow which have been decontrolled in each of the last five years?
1662W
§ Mr. ElliotI understand, that prior to the passing of the Rent and Mortgage Interest Restrictions (Amendment) Act, 1933, 44,879 houses in Glasgow, with a rateable value of £26 5s. or less, became decontrolled. The Act of 1933 stopped further decontrol in relation to houses of this category. As regards houses with a rateable value exceeding £26 5s., but not exceeding £45, decontrol may take place when the landlord comes into possession, and particulars of the number of such cases are not available.
