HC Deb 16 February 1937 vol 320 c1012W
Mr. L. Smith

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether, in view of several accidents which have recently occurred to Royal Air Force machines owing to the failure of their petrol supply, he will give instructions that no machines shall be put into service in the future unless they are fitted with the most efficient and up-to-date system of petrol control which will reduce to a minimum the responsibility and anxiety of the pilot in this regard?

Sir P. Sassoon

There is no one ideal system of petrol control, universally applicable, but I can assure my hon. Friend that in all the new types of aircraft every possible care is taken to ensure that the petrol system is as efficient and up to date as it can be made.
