§ Sir S. HoareUp to 31st January, 1937, nearly 17,000 men, women and children of more than 50 different nationalities had been evacuated from Spanish ports in His Majesty's ships. Particulars of the ports from which these persons were evacuated are not available but practically all ports in Spain and in the Balearic and Canary Islands contributed to the total.
