HC Deb 23 December 1937 vol 330 c2194W
Captain A. Evans

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can state the nature of the chief business transacted at the recent meeting of the International Broadcasting Union at Nice and the decisions reached which more especially affect this country?

Sir W. Womersley

I am informed by the British Broadcasting Corporation that the meeting at Nice was mainly occupied with preparatory work for the International Radiocommunications Conference which is to be held at Cairo next February. The chief questions had reference to the allocation of frequencies for shortwave broadcasting. Any decision on this subject must await the conclusions of the Cairo Conference.
