HC Deb 16 December 1937 vol 330 c1355W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Transport how many persons have been killer or injured by vehicles in the borough of Leyton during the past 12 months?

Mr. Burgin

In the 12 months ended 30th November, 1937, there were 12 fatal accidents and 579 non-fatal accidents on roads in the Borough of Leyton.

Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Transport how many complaints he has received concerning the speed of trolley omnibuses in the Metropolitan Police area; and how many persons have been killed or injured, respectively, in this area by these vehicles?

Mr. Burgin

No complaints have reached me regarding the speed of trolley omnibuses in the Metropolitan Police area. I have consulted my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Home Affairs and understand that the police keep no special record of any such complaints made to them but deal with them as and when they arise.

The numbers of persons killed and injured in accidents attributed to trolley omnibuses in the Metropolitan Police district during the 12 months ended 30th September, 1937, were:

Killed 11
Injured 345
Total 356
