HC Deb 16 December 1937 vol 330 c1354W
Mr. Hollins

asked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the overcrowding survey under the Housing Act, 1935, in respect of the city of Stoke-on-Trent; and whether he will consider coming to the assistance of the corporation by the reinstatement of the subsidy under the Housing Act, 1924, or by means of cheap money to enable the authority to build the 1,267 houses which are required immediately as a minimum to alleviate overcrowding?

Sir K. Wood

I am aware of the results of the overcrowding survey to which the hon. Member refers; I am at present in consultation with the associations of local authorities on the question of financial assistance for slum clearance and the abatement of overcrowding.
