HC Deb 20 April 1937 vol 322 c1596W
Sir H. Seely

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can give the number of man-shifts lost by lockout or strike action in the Nottinghamshire area from 1st January, 1927, to 31st December, 1936, and also in the rest of the coalfields in the British Isles over a similar period?

Mr. E. Brown

The number of working days recorded by my Department as lost owing to industrial disputes in the coal mining industry during the so years 1927 to 1936 was approximately 290,000 in Nottinghamshire and 8¼ million in the rest of Great Britain.
