§ Sir N. Grattan-Doyleasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that, owing to the complete non-payment by Hungary, and partial non-payment by Jugoslavia and Rumania, of the contributions due from them in respect of their undertakings under the Innsbruck Protocol, no payments whatever have been made to the British bondholders since February, 1935; and whether he will instruct His Majesty's representatives in Budapest, Belgrade and Bucharest to press for resumption of the debt service?
§ Viscount CranborneYes, Sir. I am aware of the facts to which my hon. Friend refers. These questions are being dealt with by the international body known as the Caisse Commune which was set up under the Innsbruck Protocol. The Council of Foreign Bondholders is represented on this body. Any request by the council for the support of His Majesty's Government on these questions will be sympathetically considered.
