HC Deb 15 April 1937 vol 322 cc1202-3W
Mr. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether it is the practice for police officers selected for detective duties to attend courses of specialised training in the investigation of crime; and whether there is any co-operation between Scottish police forces and Scotland Yard in this matter?

Mr. Elliot

At present the arrangements for the training of police officers selected for detective duty are made locally and vary from force to force. In some cases they include the sending of officers to the larger Scottish forces, or to New Scotland Yard, for specialised instruction. The institution of centralised courses of instruction for detective officers from Scottish forces generally is receiving consideration.
