§ Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLEThe authorised establishment of Preventive Officers in 1909 was 510 and at the present time is 613. The corresponding figures for the Preventive Men, as they were called in 1909, or Assistant Preventive Officers as they are now called, are 1,000 and 930 respectively. The duties performed by these officials are substantially the same now as in 1909.
