HC Deb 04 March 1936 vol 309 c1414W
Mr. ADAMSON

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can state the position as regards the claim made by British Somalis for the rights of British citizenship?

Mr. THOMAS

Inhabitants of the Somaliland Protectorate are not British subjects, as defined in the British Nationality and Status of Aliens Act, 1914. Their status is that of British protected persons, and as such they are not entitled to all the rights and privileges of British subjects.
