HC Deb 02 March 1936 vol 309 c1009W
Mr. SORENSEN

asked the President of the Board of Education how many children of Roman Catholic parents received school meals during 1935; and that was the total number of children who received meals?

Mr. STANLEY

During the year ended 31st March, 1935, the latest year for which figures are available, 156,448 children attending public elementary schools in England and Wales received free ordinary meals, sometimes with milk in addition, and 245,032 children received free milk only. I have no information about the number of children of Roman Catholic parents included in these figures.
