Mr. STANLEYOn 1st October, 1935, there were 89 grant-aided Roman Catholic Secondary Schools in England and Wales with 26,720 pupils on that date. In the 1912–13 school year there were 47 such schools with 7,088 pupils on the 31st January, 1913. In the year ended 31st March, 1935, there were 1,230 Roman Catholic public elementary schools maintained by local education authorities in England and Wales, and during that year1010W the average number of pupils on the registers was 393,652. For the school year 1912–13 there were 1,089 such schools, and the average number of pupils for that year was 342,873. The figures are given with reference to different dates because the basis of the board's statistics has been altered since 1913.
