HC Deb 02 March 1936 vol 309 cc1021-2W
Mr. NAYLOR

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will state the nature of the questions to be submitted by the British representatives at the forthcoming conference on inter national copyright?

Viscount CRANBORNE

The Bureau of the International Union for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works circulated in July, 1934, certain draft amendments of the Copyright Convention, which was last revised at Rome in 1928. A Departmental Committee was appointed by the Board of Trade to examine these proposals, and the report of the committee, rendered in November, 1935, has been published by His Majesty's Stationery Office. Additional or counter proposals, based on the recommendations contained in the report were submitted on behalf of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom in December, 1935, for discussion at the forthcoming conference at Brussels. I am forwarding to the hon. Member a copy of the Departmental report and of the proposals submitted on behalf of His Majesty's Government.
