HC Deb 17 June 1936 vol 313 c1008W
Mr. JAGGER

asked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the introduction of legislation to suspend capital punishment for a limited period sufficiently long for it to be ascertained whether there is any increase in crimes of violence and whether there is any virtue in capital punishment as a deterrent?

Mr. LLOYD

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton East (Mr. Mander) on the 19th December last.
