HC Deb 08 April 1936 vol 310 cc2784-5W
Sir A. WILSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any communication has been made to the Czechoslovakian Government by His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom protesting against the anti-sanctionist articles in Czechoslovak newspapers; and whether any protest has been received from the Czechoslovakian or other Government against the publication of anti-sactionist articles in this country?

Viscount CRANBORNE

His Majesty's Minister at Prague reported on 12th October last that attempts were being made in the Czechoslovak Press to influence public opinion Czechoslovakia against the imposition of economic sanctions by that country against Italy. This campaign involved some misrepresenta- tion of the attitude of His Majesty's Government towards the policy of economic sanctions against Italy, and appropriate steps were taken to correct this misrepresentation. The answer to the second part of the question is No, Sir.
