HC Deb 02 April 1936 vol 310 cc2179-80W
Mr. LEACH

asked the Attorney-General whether his Attention has been drawn to a scurrilous leaflet purporting to be written by Lady Houston and sent by post to Members with no printer's name attached; and whether, as this is not in accordance with the law, he proposes to order a prosecution?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL.

My attention has been drawn to this pamphlet, and I have had inquiries made. The pamphlet did not bear the printer's name, but did bear the name and address of the "Saturday Review," in which, I am informed, the contents of this pamphlet had previous appeared. According to my information the printer was told that they were for distribution with the "Saturday Review," and many, though not all, of the copies were so distributed. In these circumstances I do not think a prosecution would be justified, but I have given instructions that the printer should be warned.
