§ Sir S. HOAREI am informed by His Majesty's Ambassador at Madrid that Captain Kane will be released on 16th December, when he will have completed the sentence of six months' imprisonment decided upon by the Supreme Court at Madrid. After consultation with His Majesty's Ambassador I have been compelled to conclude that the sentence of the Supreme Court must be regarded as final and that there was no possibility of inducing the authorities to grant a pardon.
