§ Mr. PARKINSONasked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs, in view 2142W of the distress among the natives of Basutoland, whether he will take steps to secure that a sum of money shall be raised, whether through the Colonial Development Fund or by means of a public loan, in order to promote works which will prevent the further spread of erosion?
Mr. M. MacDONALDI would refer the hon. Member to the reply which my right hon. Friend gave to him on this point on 21st December, from which he will see that the question of remedies for erosion is one not so much of money as of education; and that every effort is being made to deal with it by the Basutoland Administration. I will, however, send a copy of the hon. Member's question to the High Commissioner for South Africa.
