Sir H. YOUNGDuring last year, a commissioner of the Board of Control made a special investigation of the use of sedatives in institutions for the insane in England and Wales, but the results are not yet available. For the year 1930 (the latest year for which statistics can at present be given), the average number of patients resident in institutions for the insane was 122,614, and the total quantity of hyoscine used was 851 grains. The use of croton oil has not been for-1886W examination for sub-lieutenant (E) in February, 1933, of whom 13 qualified.
