HC Deb 30 May 1933 vol 278 c1722W
Sir N. STEWART SANDEMAN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) how many Jewish immigrants have arrived in Palestine during the last two months; and whether in all cases the immigrants have been admitted in strict conformity with the existing regulations;

(2) how many immigrants have been admitted into Palestine on direct instructions from the British Government; and whether these admissions are in conformity with the regulations?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

As I informed the right hon. and gallant Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Colonel Wedgwood) on 3rd April, the administration of the Immigration Law of Palestine is a matter within the discretion of the High Commissioner, and the British Government have not interfered, and have no intention of interfering, with his discretion in this matter. I will consult the High Commissioner for Palestine with regard to the other inquiries, and will communicate with my hon. Friend when I have the reply.
