HC Deb 29 May 1933 vol 278 cc1550-2W
Mr. TINKER

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will give an estimate of the cost if the allowance of £50 was raised to £60 in the Finance Act for the first child; and what the cost would be if the allowance of £40 was raised to £50 in the case of the other children?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Assuming that all other personal allowances remain unaltered, it is estimated that the restoration of the children allowance to £60 for first child and £50 for other children would cost about £2,250,000 in a full year.
