HC Deb 04 May 1933 vol 277 cc1032-3W
Viscount LYMINGTON

asked the Home Secretary if he will state the number of Jewish aliens who have entered the country since 30th January, 1933?

Sir J. GILMOUR

As I stated in a reply to my hon. Friend the Member for North Tottenham (Mr. Doran) on the 13th April, statistics as to foreigners entering the country are based upon nationality, and no separate figures in respect of Jews are available.

Viscount LYMINGTON

asked the Home Secretary if he will state the number of aliens of German origin who have entered the United Kingdom since 4th March, 1933?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The number of German subjects who entered the United Kingdom during the months of March and April was 7,199. This figure, which is mainly composed of visitors on holiday and of business visitors, is not abnormally high. The number of Germans who entered this country in 1932 averaged 3,400 a month.
