Mr. ALLENasked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to an application by the corporation of the city of Stoke-on-Trent to be allowed to inspect the books of certain omnibus companies before the hearing of an appeal to him against an order of the Traffic Commissioners; and whether he will order such inspection prior to the hearing of the appeal?
Mr. STANLEY:Yes, Sir. I have informed the corporation that I have no power to order the production of documents except at the inquiry; but I have decided to authorise the person holding the inquiry on my behalf to order the production of such documents as he may require, subject to the provisions of the Section under which the inquiry will be held.
