HC Deb 01 March 1933 vol 275 cc378-9W
Mr. JOEL

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that the omission of Palestine from the benefits of Imperial fiscal preference so far as oranges are concerned is having an adverse repercussion on the prosperity of that British mandated territory; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER:

The question of granting Imperial Preference to Palestine products has received prolonged and careful consideration, but His Majesty's Government regret that, owing to serious juridical difficulties, it is not possible to grant preference.
