HC Deb 01 June 1933 vol 278 cc2077-8W
Mr. SUTCLIFFE

asked the Minister of Health how many local authorities in England have in operation schemes whereby the public assistance committees arrange for the medical treatment of those unemployed persons who have fallen out of health insurance; and whether he proposes to take any steps to advise local authorities as to the need for extending such arrangements after the end of the year, when a large number of unemployed persons will cease to be entitled to medical treatment under the Insurance Act?

Sir H. YOUNG

All public assistance authorities in England have arrangements in being for the medical relief of persons in need of it, and these arrangements are available for the persons to whom my hon. Friend refers. As regards the second part of the question, I will consider whether any special communication to local authorities on this subject is necessary later in the year.
