HC Deb 01 June 1933 vol 278 c2077W
Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the brickwork and railings surrounding some abandoned coal pits are falling in; and whether, in the interests of public safety, he will take steps to remedy this state of affairs?

Sir H. YOUNG

I am not aware that this matter has previously been brought to my notice. Local authorities are empowered to deal with any cases under the nuisance provisions of the Public Health Act, 1875, which are applied by Section 26 of the Coal Mines Act, 1911.
