§ Sir J. GILMOURAt present 42 members of the Metropolitan Police Force of the rank of superintendent and above are excluded from the Police Federation under the terms of the Police Act, 1919. If the Bill now before Parliament becomes law in its present form, 185 existing chief and sub-divisional inspectors will be excluded forthwith, and ultimately the total number of all ranks excluded will rise to about 550.
