HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 c140W
Mrs. Rumbold

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the police complaints body to be set up by the new Police and Criminal Evidence Bill will be independent.

Mr. Hurd

As proposed in the White Paper on police complaints procedures (Cmnd. 8681) the Police and Criminal Evidence Bill introduced in the last Session would have established in the independent Police Complaints Board a new office of "independent assessor" to supervise the investigation of serious complaints against the police. We are at present reviewing the Bill's provisions before its reintroduction.
