HC Deb 20 July 1933 vol 46 c150W
Mr. Hargreaves

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to revise the present system for the listing of buildings of architectural and historical merit.

Mr. Macfarlane

No.

Mr. Hargreaves

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many individuals, as opposed to official groups, have initiated in the past five years the procedure for listing buildings of architectural merit; and how many have sought to remain anonymous.

Mr. Macfarlane

Figures for the last five years are not available. In the 12 months ending 30 June 1983 the Department received 465 listings requests from individuals, 119 from amenity groups and 796 from local planning authorities. The number of applicants seeking to remain anonymous is not recorded, but such requests are exceedingly rare.
