Mr. LuceThis meeting marked the beginning of a second phase of our talks with the Chinese Government on the future of Hong Kong. It followed discussions during the visit of my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister to China in September 1982 and subsequent useful exchanges. On 13 July we issued an agreed statement about the talks, saying that they had been useful and constructive, and that they would resume on 25 July.
