§ Mr. PERKINSasked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the fact that an envelope left in a Bristol Tramways omnibus by a resident of Whitminster was only returned to its owner on payment of a fine of £2 8s. 6d., as a result of the recent Order regarding articles left in public carriages and whether he will take steps to have this fine remitted and amend the Order in question?
§ Mr. PYBUSMy attention has not previously been drawn to this particular case. The sum of £2 8s. 6d. to which my hon. Friend refers was presumably the fee (which may not exceed 1s.) and the award to the conductor (one-eighth of the value of the article) which are payable under the present Regulations when lost property is returned to its owner. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given him on 2nd November.
