HC Deb 09 March 1932 vol 262 c1815W
Mr. HUTCHISON

asked the Minister of Transport if, in order to ascertain whether, as a result of the restrictions on motor-coach services, the convenience of the public will be impaired at Easter, he will make a test investigation of the extent to which motor-coach services are utilised by the public on these occasions, and the measure of inconvenience which may be caused by their restriction?

Mr. PYBUS

Subject to the right of appeal, the licensing of motor coach services is a matter for the traffic commissioners, who, at their public sittings and otherwise, obtain ample evidence as to the extent to which those services are used by the public. The commissioners are, I am satisfied, fully alive to the necessity for making provision to meet the public demand for certain types of service at holiday periods.
