HC Deb 12 July 1932 vol 268 cc1123-4W
Mr. KIRKWOOD

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he is aware that orders amounting in value to millions of pounds for new ships and heavy and light engineering products are available from Russian sources if credit facilities can he arranged; and whether he will arrange for further export credits to expedite the securing of these orders for British industry?

Mr. COLVILLE

Export credit guarantee facilities are not at present available for ocean-going ships whether destined for Russia or any other country, though special classes of craft have in certain circumstances, been dealt with. As regards other goods, I would refer the hon. Member to the replies which I gave to my hon. Friends the Members for Lincoln (Mr. Liddall) and the Platting Division of Manchester (Mr. Chorlton) on 5th July.
