HC Deb 12 July 1932 vol 268 cc1125-6W
Mr. G. HALL

asked the Secretary for Mines if he is aware that the miners employed in the Coalpit Heath collieries, Bristol, have been employed on day-to-day contracts, and that the owners of these collieries still refuse to meet the miners' representatives to discuss the snaking of an agreement; and will he take steps to bring the two sides together with a view to an agreement being made?

Mr. ISAAC FOOT

I am aware of the position as stated in the first part of the hon. Member's question. Attempts, extending over more than six months, have been made to arrange a joint meeting of the nature suggested, but without success. In these circumstances, I cannot at present usefully take any further steps in the matter.
