asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he will give a list of birds the plumage of which has been illegally imported and confiscated under the Importation of Plumage (Prohibition) Act, 1921, during the period 1st July, 1932 to 30th September, 1932, together with the approximate quantity of plumage involved in each case?

The following is a list of birds, the plumage of which was illegally imported and was confiscated by the Customs authorities under the Importation of Plumage (Prohibition) Act, 1921, during the period 1st July, 1032 to 30th September, 1932, together with the approximate quantity of plumage involved in each case.

Name of Bird and Approximate Amount of Plumage.

  • Brambling—6 millinery mounts.
  • Hawk—1 wing.
  • Hawk Owl—8 single feathers.
  • Humming Bird—5 skins.
  • Pheasant, Copper—54 millinery mounts each with a small amount of this plumage.
  • Pheasant, Himalayan—1 skin.
  • Peacock—94 single feathers, 10 millinery mounts, 2 fans.
  • Pelican—2 skins.
  • Robin, American—1 skin.
  • Sparrow (of a prohibited variety)—5 millinery mounts.
