§ Major CARVERasked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the shortage of the domestic water supplies in and around the neighbourhood of Brough, in East Yorkshire; and if he will institute an inquiry in the interests of public health and sanitation?
Sir H. YOUNGI am aware of this difficulty. The duty of providing an adequate water supply for Brough devolves on the Elloughton-cum-Brough Water Company, who have special statutory powers. The statutory provisions do not give me any jurisdiction. I have, however, communicated with the Beverley Rural District Council and they 759W are actively considering, in consultation with the company and a neighbouring water authority, what steps can be taken to improve the supply. I am keeping in close touch with the situation.
